Why Summer Prep Matters for Your Mitsubishi Heat affects vehicles differently than cold weather. High summer pavement temperatures put stress on tires and braking systems. For drivers relying on an Outlander, Eclipse Cross, or Outlander Sport year-round, maintenance forms a smart habit supporting safety and long-term reliability. Mitsubishi backs its vehicles with a 10-Year/100,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. Protecting that investment with regular seasonal care remains easy and essential. Tire Inspection: Start Here Tires serve as the only contact point between your vehicle and the road. Begin with tire pressure. Summer heat expands the air inside, causing overinflation and uneven wear. Check the pressure after the vehicle sits for a few hours for an accurate reading. Next, inspect the tread depth on all four tires. Worn tread reduces traction on wet roads during summer storms. If any tire shows cracking, bulging, or uneven wear, a service professional should evaluate them. Schedule a rotation if 5,000 to 7,500 miles have passed since the last service. Brake System: Do Not Overlook It Brakes work harder during summer, especially driving through the hilly terrain around Morgantown, WV. Listen for squealing, grinding, or vibrations when applying the brakes. These indicate worn pads or rotors requiring attention. A qualified technician should also inspect the brake fluid. Over time, brake fluid absorbs moisture, lowering its boiling point and reducing effectiveness during heavy use. Replacing the fluid supports consistent braking performance through the hottest months. Additional Summer Service Tips Check the coolant level to ensure the engine maintains the proper operating temperature. Inspect the wiper blades, as summer thunderstorms arrive quickly and visibility matters. Verify the air conditioning system blows cold to ensure comfort on long drives. If approaching a scheduled maintenance interval, handle it now. The Mitsubishi 2-Year/30,000-Mile Limited Maintenance program covers oil changes, tire rotations, and multi-point inspections on eligible newer models.
